Choosing a perch

Post by Admin on Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:39 pm

When
choosing a perch for your bird, there is one factor that you need to take note. The minimum size would be one where the foot
does not wrap completely around the perch.

Natural perches are best, as they provide comfort plus a good source for
chewing. Birds such as budgie, cockatoo and cockatiel enjoy removing bark and demolishing perches. When selecting branches
from trees, make sure that the tree have not been sprayed with insecticides or
pesticides. If your perches get dirty, it can be cleaned with 10% bleach
solution and rinsed very well.

How about those bird cages they sell at petshops? they normally come with plastic perches - not recommended?

I cut some branches and placed them in the cage.
